Description

See the romantic views of Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong on your way to explore the teas of China. We will spend a day seeing the best parts of Hong Kong most tourists never see. Are you familiar with tropical flowers? If so, you can regale yourself with orchids at the flower market and then take in the fantastic architectural marvels all over Central. We'll dine on dim sum for lunch and at The Peak for supper, watching the evening shadows overtake Kowloon and the harbor. You can explore the night markets before bed for a great night sleep.

The next day we go to China proper via a high speed hydrofoil and visit the beautiful resort city of Zhuhai. Here you'll get a crash course in Chinese and eat one of the most memorable seafood dinners of your life. Day three finds us on our way to Hangzhou, the home of one of China's ancient capitals and the famous dragon well green tea. Here we will see the history tea at the China Tea Museum and learn about China's almost infinite varieties of green tea from green tea experts.

Leaving Hangzhou, we head out past bamboo forests to the Zhejiang countryside to walk tea gardens and discover the nuances of green tea production. We will move on to Anhui and the opposite side of tea, the fabulous black tea production area of Keemun (Qimen). Keemun is known as the "burgundy of teas" and we will have a chance to see one of the oldest tea production factories in all of China.

On our way back to Shanghai and our flight back home we will spend a night in Suzhou, the "Venice of China". Canals were first built in 486 BC and run throughout the area. The Grand Canal flows from Hangzhou all the way to Beijing. Suzhou is also known for its stunning gardens which we will see with the assistance of one of the garden's director.

We will spend two days in Shanghai, seeing the incomparable Shanghai Museum and the Tian Shan Wholesale Tea Market. You will have a full day for your own interests and then we will head for home.
