• Curing Puer

• 2007 Raw Menghai Puer (6g x 8bags)

• old tea tree, Lao Ban Zhang, Menghai

Robust and energizing raw puer with minimal astringency and clear, mouth-watering after-taste. Quintessential menghai complex, this was not smoked, but from the sandy clay of Lao Ban Zhang, which today is the most sought after terroir in Meghai because of what some call its "smokey" hues. The weather when harvesting and curing Puer is very important (watch our video below), and 2007 was the last generally accepted perfect tea harvest here. This tea will age well in a dry place, soften and sweeten for the next twenty years. Store in a paper bag or clay. This tea will absorb odors.

• 1996 Raw Menghai Puer (6g x 8bags)

• middle age tree, unknown tea grove

This relaxing, mesmerizing tea exhibits why old Puer's are expensive. Almost fifteen years old, stored in the relatively high altitude and temperate climate of Kunming city, this tea has the smell of a (shou/cooked) puer, but it is entirely natural. Not by any means thin, this tea is well on its way to something remarkable. Its taste has evolved into a wonderfully calming feeling. A great comparison and preview for the younger Menghai tea above, which in another ten years will take on similar characteristics. We are very lucky to have found this sample of old Menghai raw puer.
