tea

Taking a cue from CSA farmers in America, who sell shares of their harvest, we now offer a club whereby we sell shares of the teas we collect during the year. Every year we travel with the harvest. In 2011 we begin travelling between Yunnan and Fujian, and then Wuyi and Anxi, Liubao, Sichuan and Hunan. When we make these trips into the backwoods tea country, the journey is a big part of it. Sometimes just because of the soil and plant life we stop in a town and go asking for teas.

If you are a tea professional, there is inestimable value in sampling widely from among the thousands of smaller Chinese producers. Their knowledge of harvest conditions have been instructional in the past, and with each tea we also provide back knowledge of climate conditions, harvest time, notes on the soil and ecology as well as culture and history when available. There is no other country in which a tea drinker, collector, or student can sample such a wide variety of teas grown across vast and varying landscapes and climates.

We are first and foremost collectors and students of tea. Your subscription will support the actual tea makers, directly contributing to the growth of this ancient and incredible art at the source. As we've said many times, the flavor chemistry of Chinese tea could easily take a lifetime to explore, so why wait when you can begin growing your tea knowledge now?
